Monday Fun Day

After a weekend spent skiing and hanging out with family and old friends, I was surprisingly happy to be back in my little box of an apartment and, of course, back at my NYC feasting. We worked Monday morning and headed to Union Square Cafe for lunch. The space is newly re-opened and since I haven’t been to the old space in years, I can’t say how it compares, but it is elegant and the food is delicious. I had pasta with fish, olive oil, garlic and herbs, slightly spicy with red pepper flakes. I loved it and can’t wait to reproduce it at home. But I must say that the star of the meal was the Brussel sprouts “colatura”,  roasted Brussel sprouts with a fish sauce and balsamic reduction that was outrageous- salty (you know what a salt fiend I am) and slightly syrupy. I can’t tell if my general puffiness is from weight gain or water retention! Either way, worth it. We walked off lunch strolling through the Village, Soho and along the High Line, finishing up with an Old Fashioned at our (new) neighborhood bar. A perfect Monday.
