Mangia Bene..Vivi Felice

Eat well, live happy. These are words to live by..and if you can live them while eating Italian food and speaking Italian, even better. We had the incredible luck to live in Italy for three years. Two of our three children were born in Milan, where they spent their teething years gnawing on parmesan cheese rinds and sucking down tortellini and spaghetti carbonara. I say this to explain my obsession with Italian food while excusing yet another post about an outrageous Italian meal, this one at Felidia.  The several times we have eaten here over the years have never disappointed, the food is always classic Italian but interesting and unusual as well.  I was excited to see octopus on the menu and it was tender and delicious, served with potatoes and vinaigrette.  As a main course, I had pasta with a rich bolognese. I loved the unctuous meatiness of the sauce- such a perfect classic dish. Carl had an interesting version of tiramisu for dessert, which he let me take a photo of before he ate every last drop. Our time in the city is winding down…my daily fancy restaurant dinners are numbered. I am looking forward to getting home but will miss ordering dinner..I will actually have to cook it!
