A Negroni and Dinner

As you might have figured out by now,  I am partial to salt, cocktails and Italian food, not necessarily in that order. Tonight’s dinner at Babbo began with a barrel-aged Negroni and progressed deliciously from there. I started with the octopus, which had a vibrant green vinaigrette and a gorgeous pink radish curled on top and my hubby had the black spaghetti with shrimp and spicy salami- it was divine. The pasta was perfectly chewy and the whole dish came together with all the right notes- salty, spicy, fatty…yum. The rest of the meal was equally memorable, braised rabbit with roasted Brussel spouts, lentils and ribbons of shaved carrot and a whole roasted branzino. I don’t actually know what he had for dessert- it was gone in a flash.  I ordered what I always get in Italian restaurants, biscotti, which were served with a thimble of affogato in the middle of the plate. We took most of the cookies home- I think they will make a perfect breakfast!
